Hour of AI
As part of the Hour of AI movement, we have created two engaging lessons that help students understand how AI works and how to use it responsibly and creatively. They are designed to empower students to be confident creators and shape the way technology shows up in their communities.
Imagine the Future
Grades: 3-5
Duration: 1 hour (with optional extensions)
In this unplugged lesson, students explore how artificial intelligence (AI) works and how it can be designed for good. They will simulate how AI learns through an AI training example, brainstorm community-focused solutions, and design their own AI Innovation to solve a real-world problem.
Patterns in Nature, Patterns in AI
Grades: 4-6
Duration: 1 hour (with optional extensions)
In this hands-on lesson, students discover the role of pattern recognition in both human learning and AI. Through a nature walk and an interactive machine learning activity, they will learn how AI systems identify patterns in data, understand the limitations, and recognize why human insight is essential when working with AI technologies.
